YOUR DAILY LIFE


  • Plan, prepare and carry out automation work with the project team, respecting schedules, priorities and quality standards
  • Assemble, wire and build control panels according to the electrical drawings and the client’s requirements
  • Install, configure and integrate automated equipment and components across a range of industrial environments
  • Program, modify and fine-tune programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs)
  • Run in-house testing, then perform full commissioning at the client’s site
  • Verify system performance and compliance before, during and after installation to guarantee reliability and safety
  • Coordinate the various trades to keep execution smooth and results optimal
  • Work with the team and the client during system start-up, while keeping costs and deadlines on track
  • Diagnose and resolve automation problems, both hardware and software, with rigour and creativity
  • Optimize, maintain and document existing systems to improve their performance, durability and safety
  • Take an active part in on-site start-ups and troubleshooting, providing fast, professional and safe technical support
  • Work closely with the engineers, project managers and client service team to design and deliver durable, well-suited solutions
  • Handle client follow-up after installation: technical support, adjustments, software updates and continuous-improvement recommendations
  • Collect and analyze performance data in order to propose optimizations and support technical decisions
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication with the team and with clients throughout the project
  • Contribute to the evolution of industrial processes by integrating new technologies and fostering continuous innovation

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


  • At least three years of relevant experience in a similar position
  • A college diploma (DEC) or a bachelor’s degree in automation, computer science or software engineering, or electrician training with automation experience, or any other relevant combination of education and experience
  • ASP General Health and Safety on Construction Sites certificate — an asset
  • An electricity certificate (formerly the CE licence) — an asset

YOUR KEY SKILLS


Technical and professional skills

  • In-depth knowledge of industrial control systems (PLC/HMI/SCADA)
  • Command of the commissioning, testing and troubleshooting procedures for automated equipment
  • An understanding of electrical circuits, instrumentation and machine-process interfaces
  • The ability to read, design and modify electrical drawings and control schematics
  • Rigorous application of CSA/UL standards and machine safety rules
  • Skill in diagnosing, troubleshooting and maintaining complex control systems
  • Close collaboration with the engineering and production teams to ensure the compliance and quality of installations
  • Clear, well-structured writing of technical documentation and production reports

Transferable skills

REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS:

Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written (intermediate to advanced level – an asset)

A valid driver’s licence

Availability to travel and work on site when required

Occasional availability outside regular hours for start-ups or troubleshooting, with advance notice
