Visit of the Phoenix Contact facilities in Bad Pyrmont and Blomberg

During this visit, we had the chance to visit the Phoenix Contact facilities.
During the visit of Bad Pyrmont, we could see the real implementation of the Industry 4.0 concepts applied to the production’s equipments. One of the interesting applications is the link between the production machines and the building’s automation; therefore they control the air flow drawn on each of the printed circuit production lines by adjusting it depending on the product being manufactured. This allows a great saving of energy.
When visiting the facility in Blomberg, two applications of 4.0 industry concepts were implemented, the production “just in time” and the product customization. On a cable production machine for sensor with a M12 connector, it is possible to customize the product, head color, length of the cable, private labeling, and also the global orders are entered in the production list and are produced in real time, all without any human intervention on the machine and without having to make adjustments.
